Donation Criteria

If your donation is not listed here, if you have a question about usability of an item, or you need to schedule a pickup, please call (336) 851-2929. The ReStore staff will be happy to serve you!
Appliances
Items 7 years old or less in good working order with no repairs needed.
  • Ranges (tops and free standing)
  • Washer/dryer
  • Water heaters
  • Refrigerators
  • Range hoods
  • Microwave ovens
  • Architectural Items
    Columns, antiques, window, mantelpieces, etc.
    Cabinets/Countertops
    Individual pieces or full cabinet sets-kitchen or bathroom.  Must have all doors and drawers and be in stable condition.  Countertops must be in good condition with minimal chips or damage.
    Doors
  • Pre-hung or door slabs
  • Exterior or interior without rot, cracks or missing panes
  • Entryway units
  • Electrical
  • Residential items only - no large donations of miscellaneous stock
  • No commercial 220V fixtures
  • Electronic Equipment (working)
  • Television sets
  • No console TVs
  • Audio - receivers, speakers and CD players
  • Computers and accessories, complete with Pentium I and higher processors
  • Flooring
  • Carpets - Area rugs and bound carpets in good to excellent condition with no visible wear tears, no stains and no animal smells
  • Hardwood/parquet flooring - must be free of rot and in usable quantities
  • Vinyl tile, sheet vinyl, linoleum - any quantities of new material
  • Ceramic tile
  • Furniture
    Good condition - no rips, tears, stains, broken parts or animal smells
    Hardware
  • Complete sets of door hardware, hinges, etc.
  • Tools and automotive items
  • Lighting
  • Good looking and in working order
  • No fluorescent or commercial lights (220V)
  • Lumber
  • Dimensional - 4 ft. lengths minimum of treated or non-treated
  • Sheet goods - full sheets only of particleboard, pressboard, plywood, paneling, etc.
  • Trim and molding - 4 ft. lengths or longer
  • No sheetrock or drywall
  • Plumbing
  • Sinks - all types of kitchen and bathroom sinks (no rust)
  • Bathtubs - Fiberglass or cast iron
  • Shower enclosures - all components
  • Faucets - complete sets only
  • Pipe/PVC/Metal/Copper - four ft. length and over
  • Pipe supplies and fittings - any type
  • Commodes - 1.6 gallon only - complete and in good working condition
  • Miscellaneous plumbing hardware
  • Roofing Materials
  • New shingles, full bundles
  • Full rolls only of roofing materials
  • Storm Windows and Doors
    With all windows and screens, and all tracking or framing
    Vents (Floor, Ceiling, Return)
    Clean and in good condition

  • Double pane only - no single pane
  • Double-hung, picture, bay - complete window units with all sashes, no rot, no cracked or foggy glass
  • Metal screens
  • Wood screens

  • Blinds
  • Bricks
  • Broken glass
  • Broken mirrors
  • Unframed glass or mirrors
  • Paint, paint thinners, stains, or other hazardous/toxic chemicals
  • Pesticides
  • Mattresses or box springs, unless brand new in plastic
  • Bedding of any kind, unless new in plastic
  • Sliding glass doors
  • Scrap lumber or molding less than 4 feet in length
  • Garage doors and/or door openers
  • Commercial electrical or plumbing stock
  • Appliances that need any repair or are not working

    Before merchandise is displayed, it must be cleaned as much as practical. Nails must be removed from wood and wood visually inspected for damage.
