The first Habitat house sponsored by Cars for Homes™ was built in Ponchatoula, Louisiana in July 2007. The building of this house was a prime example of how extraordinary things happen when people come together.

Rosie August and her four children were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. A Habitat supporter in her area donated a power boat, the mayor donated a building lot and a Habitat affiliate in Kansas City, Kansas, donated a framing package. Volunteers from 10 states came together with dozens of corporate partners to work alongside Rosie and help make this dream come true for her and her family.
