Thriving Neighborhoods

Building thriving neighborhoods isn’t just part of our mission – it’s our passion.

This means helping people get connected with one another. We work with Habitat homeowners and their neighbors to identify their community’s unique needs and, together, develop a plan to get it done.

Here are a few examples of our work in this area:

  • Eastside Park: Partnered with the neighborhood to construct a community garden where neighbors could work side-by-side to plant and harvest together. Habitat also led the charge to build the Eastside Park Community Center, which houses an afterschool tutoring program, programs for seniors, a computer lab and much more.
  • Villages at Northside: With neighborhood volunteers, built a community garden and, with KaBoom!, built a playground where kids would have a safe place to play.
  • Stonegate Crossing: With KaBoom! and volunteers, built a playground that is now maintained by the City of Greensboro.
  • Poplar Ridge: Worked with our partners at Housing Greensboro including repairing and painting decks and making minor landscaping improvements.

We also find many other ways to bring people together, including the development of neighborhood directories in the areas where we build.

Thanks to donors, volunteers and community partners, we’re making great progress. Read more about our vision for thriving neighborhoods in Greensboro.
